The news you’ve all been waiting to hear: Jalen Hurts will return to practice on Wednesday afternoon, head coach Nick Sirianni said.

“He’ll be there today,” Sirianni said just after noon Wednesday. “We will give you an injury report after practice. We’ll see how it goes. But we will give you an injury report after practice today.”

Hurts will return to the practice field for the first time since his injury on December 22. Hurts missed two full weeks of practice and two games due to the injury. Sirianni did not say whether Hearts would face any restrictions to begin the week.

The Eagles will practice Wednesday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field because the grounds at the NovaCare Complex are frozen. They will host the Packers at the Lynx on Sunday at 4:30 pm in the Wild Card Round.

The Eagles had to play without Hurts in the final two regular season games after he suffered an injury against the Commanders on December 22. Hurts was ejected from the game after just 12 snaps and has been in concussion protocol since then.

Despite Hearts missing the last few weeks, Sirianni claimed he was not worried about rust.

“That’s why you practice,” Sirianni said. “That’s why you go through the practice process and all the things you do in practice so you can get on the same page to do everything. We feel as if we exercise at a very high intensity level. That’s why you go out there and do these things.

Although Hurts’ return to practice does not mean he will clear concussion protocol in time for Sunday’s game, all indications are that Hurts will make his return for the playoffs. The Eagles also waived reserve quarterback Ian Book on Tuesday, another strong sign regarding Hurts’ availability.

The game before the injury was one of Hurts’ best games of the season. Against the Steelers, he completed 78% of his passes for 290 yards and 2 touchdowns. This performance came after a tough win over the Carolina Panthers, which left a lot of questions about the passing offense.

In 15 starts this year, Hurts has a 12-3 record but lost to Washington in the first quarter. He completed 68.7% of his passes for 2,903 yards with 18 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in the regular season. He rushed for 630 yards and 14 touchdowns.

In the first 4 games of the season, Hurts turned the ball over 7 times, but in the final 11 games he only had 3.

With Hurts returning to practice on Wednesday, it looks likely the Eagles will have all 22 of their offensive and defensive starters healthy for the first round of the playoffs.
