Jordan Love on his status for the Eagles-Packers wild-card game after limited practice session: ‘We’ll see’

Jordan Love was confident in his status for the wild-card round on Sunday after injuring his elbow during Green Bay’s regular season-finale loss to the Chicago Bears.

On Wednesday, Luv’s confidence appeared to be wavering. The Packers quarterback was a limited participant in Green Bay’s practice and spoke to reporters afterward about his status for Sunday’s game.

When Love was asked if he would play Sunday, he said, “We’ll see.” “I am hopeful.”

Compare that answer to Love’s reaction after the Bears game. Asked Sunday if he felt good about his chances of playing in the wild-card round, Love simply said, “Yes.”

Love left Sunday’s game in the first half after suffering a right elbow injury and did not return. The Packers had already clinched a playoff berth, and Malik Willis finished the game at quarterback.

The exact nature of Love’s injury has not been disclosed. Love told reporters on Sunday that he had lost his throwing arm and on Wednesday, when asked if he had hit his funny bone, he said yes. He also said on Wednesday that the pain in his hand has returned, but the pain in his elbow remains.

The warmup portion of Wednesday’s Packers practice was open to the media. When it came time for Love to have individual practice, practice was called off. So we’re left to rely on head coach Matt LaFleur’s description of what Love was able to do in practice.

Here’s what LaFleur said when asked if Love could throw:

“Yeah, he was limited,” LaFleur said.

Asked for clarification, LaFleur continued: “Yes, on a limited basis.”

This doesn’t make things clear.

If the NFL Draft is the Super Bowl for front-office shenanigans, the playoffs are the coaches’ time to shine. LaFleur took over the role on Wednesday, and we, along with the Eagles, were left wondering what type of guy Love is.

Is he dealing with an injury that jeopardizes his status on Sunday? Or is this playmaking skill from LaFleur to keep the Eagles guessing in their game preparation? For now, only the Packers know.

If Love’s status is in jeopardy, Willis is the next man up for Green Bay. So what is his status?

He is limited by a thumb injury.
